Water dispenser can fail for many reasons, first check to see if there is frost forming in the back of the freezer, causing incorrect temps iin the frige and freezer. What happens there is the air flow is not up and over, but just stays at the bottom of the unit and slides over to the frige side and can freeze the chill line in the frige side. Next check to see if the valve will disp. water if voltage is applied to the valve terminals with a test cord, careful and don't get shocked... If you have one lever for disp. of ice and water, see if that arm works for ice, then you know nothing is wrong with switch. If the valve on the water line is plugged that gets you water, then the icemaker would also not work.
