How can I fix my Homelite UT20763 gas trimmer?

I need to replace the two plastic tubings going from the gas tank to the carburator.I have the correct size tubing but the holes in the gas tank seems to be small, How can I squeeze the tubing through those holes?

I just did that insertion yesterday. I couldn't get the tube in the hole. What I did was cut the end of it at a slight angle so I have a pointed end. I inserted the pointed end which went in and then pushed the rest of the length in [about a quarter inch] and that's it.
