How can i fix my heater on my R reg ford mondeo?

My heater is not working on my R reg ford mondeo, i cannot turn it on the button seems to have jammed, my husband wants to know if he has to take the radio out to get to the fault in cas someething has come un attached behind the casing, do you have any illustrations to help him.
