2009 Ford Transit, how to remove gearbox selector cables from gearbox?

i need to remove the gear selector cables from a ford transit 2009 model, but how do you remove the connector from the cable end/ ball joint and the cable retainer on the side of the gearbox.

there is normally a button on the end of the balljoint/cable that you press in,which releases lugs holding the balljoint on
