oil level guage problem?

on my peugeot 307 1.6 diesel (2004) hdi 110 S, the oil level guage moves form empty to full in the same day, what is causing this? I have checked the oil level dipstick and the level is full - at the maximum mark.
The oil level has gone up since I had it serviced in May so some oil has been drained out once already but it has creeped up to the maximum again? What could be causing this?

Peccavi - yes the oil level is checked regularly with the dip stick.
Vaux - the car is running fine apart from one incident a month ago when it lost power and I had to pull over and stop and start again. The anti pollution fault light comes on sometimes which I know is a common problem with Peugeot diesels.
Maybe I should take it into a diesel garage to get it checked over - but it's always the same old story when you take your car in for examination, they can tell you anything and charge the earth!!!

Diesel is leaking in to the sump, possibly from a leaky injector.
Get this fixed immediately or you will ruin your engine.
Whoever drained the oil out should have noticed this, I hope it wasn't the same person who did the service.

Oil volume (level) is usually measured with a dip-stick in the engine compartment.

Oil pressure (oil pressure warning) is usually (always) presented to the driver in the driving compartment.

If you have drained out some oil (?) it would be very sensible to check the level with the dip-stick.

do you mean oil pressure guage?
