Trojan 18?

After many years of good to excellent service, we notice the main shell has corroded. Large chuck has gone but it is still linked to wheels and motor. And still working but throwing grass and debris through the opened hole. No problem. Perhaps we should ear goggles. Can new shell be put on? How much this would cost? Or is it better to run it to the ground and buy a new one

I think it's already classified as being "run into the ground" if the deck has rotted through.

New decks are available at around £80.00.

I would seriously suggest you stop using it in its present condition- no pair of googles will ever protect your face by being hit with a projectile from that cutting blade at 200mph.
