My Fisher Paykel washer will not drain water? Buring Smell?

Hi,

My Fisher and Paykel Washing Machine would start to drain but then stop and then beep? Now is appears to by dead, with out any power? If I spin the drum by hand the board lights up at the power and spin lights and beeps but then stops when the drum stops turning. I smelt a burning smell so I took it outside and drained the water out and then I found that the smell was coming from the drain pump. I took off the pump and saw that half of the copper windings on the motor were black.

What I would like to know is what happened to the drain pump and do I need to simply replace it with a new one and all will be well again?

Thank you.

The drain pump burnt out because you kept on running the machine with a drain problem. You say it would start to drain then stop and beep. At that point you should of removed the pump & cleared any obstruction. You kept running it & it overheated. You can try putting in another drain pump & if you are lucky it will power up again & be okay but it may not. When the pump burnt out it may also have damaged the control board. A service company would be able to test for you and avoid you wasting your money on the pump.

it has been a pump problem to start with.but now you say you spin the drum by hand and lights come on,something very wrong here,be careful.but always try obvious first.like the pump.best of luck.leo

Check that your outlet pump is not jammed up with stray hair clips etc, and replace the motor
