Gilera DNA 50 won't start?

Hi, I changed the whole engine in my gilera DNA 50, the old one was completley shagged, so I bought a new lump off a 2008 model and fitted it myself. Was quite straightforward and put it all together happily, the problem now is that the kickstart won't budge an inch and the electric start doesn't make any noise, and then turns off and then on again. If anyone has any ideas then they would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Yeah I have done that all correct, but still, after months of trying, I still can't work out why it dies if I full throttle it, I haven't got the restrictor in the carb and my mate said it could be that? I dunno :/

Have you attached the vacuum tube that fits under the air filter onto the engine casing ?

Cheers Adam, tried that and it's all fine. I now have another problem though. Basically, if I pull off and get up to 16-25mph, then it gets to a point where if I rev anymore then the bike just cuts out and won't respond, so I have to drop the throttle and it picks up the revs again. My mate suggested 5.3g rollers, tried them and put them in and at first it helped and I got 44mph going to town. On the way back from town however; it just went back to how it was and wouldn't go over 16mph.

If you have any ideas then they would be much appreciated.

look at the fuel tap at the bottom of the tank, there are two pipes from it one is thick and one is thin the thicker one should have a valve inline to that looks like a little flying saucer.the thicker one is the fuel pipe and the thinner one is the vaccum pipe the bike will only pump and allow fuel to flow when a vaccum is being made so you will only see the fuel flowing when its running or bein kicked over fast.the fueol pipe goes nearer the back of the carb and the thinner air pipe nearer the front on the left i think...if no fuel is flowing while its running its either run out of fuel or the pump or fuel tap is faulty or piped up wrong.

Got it to start, but now having trouble with the fuel flow into carb, I need a picture of what goes where so I can make sure that it's all on properly. But there is just no fuel coming into the carb :/
