astra 1.7 dti?

hi i have the above vehicle it's a 2002 year yesterday battery light appeared on dash also lost power steering just wondered which one has packed up as power steering pump is the rear part of alternator,hope someone can help & thank you in advance

it is likely to be an alternator fault,is the fan belt still there?you will have to have a look and make sure the alternator pulley/drive is ok,try a voltmeter across battery terminals,should read 14v+,if less it is likely the alternator is at fault,good luck
