how do i take off the on-off switsh on a dyson all floors?

The power intermittantly cuts out indicating a poor connection inthe on/off switch. The retaing screw has been released but how does the plastic unit slide off - I dont want to apply too much force

dysonmedic.com has words and pictures for switch changing - the DC04 pages are very good and my give you some hints... however...

You may indeed have a switch fault but you're just as likely to have a damaged conductor inside the cable - tugging causes tight bends at one end or the other - usually the plug end - and in time the wires stretch and break apart - before spending time & money on a new switch wriggle the cable at each end to eliminate or confirm this easily repaired fault.

Good luck...
