Key fob on Mrecedes C180 elegance N reg?

I've changed the batteries in my key fob,and the engine now starts ok. Problem is I can't open or lock my car with the key and have to do it all manually?? Can you help please?

I think that the cental locking system is air operated.
More than likely a leak in the pneumatic locking system
