Many recliner sofas have removeable backs.These are usually just slotted into a metal bracket.If this is the case,you should be able to pull the backs upwards with a bit of effort and they should come away from the main frame.Check the outside back at the bottom to see how this is fastened on.It may just be velcro holding it in place.With the backs out you should be able to get the sofa into the your room.
