my roller doesnt turn?

I accidently sucked up a sock and the hoover belt snapped. Since then the roller wont turn and if I fit a new belt is just snaps . Any ideas please??

the brush roll is damaged,mabe have bits of the sock in roller ends,remove roller and clean,if this not do it,then you need to replace the roller
