fans running when engine cold?

How can I find the fault with the fans on Nissan almera. when the ignition get switched on the fans start running even when engine is cold, from cold start or any time, but not running when engine started. not kicking in when hot, but start up again when engine switched of and key removed. Runs down the battary all the time have to remove terminal of the battary al the time. please help.

May be also the actual sensor fitted into the water system - possibly the radiator or the intake manifold heating ducts/lines. You could also remove the fuse for that item if easily accessed as fuses are.

DONT disconnect permanently as damage will result if engine overheats and no fan cooling assistance in operation.

Not sure if this will help. Have you tried changing the relay for the fans. As my mondeo had the same problem and i put a new relay in and it worked ok after that.Plus it would be easyer to take out relay rather than disconecting battery lead.
