Nissan X Trail 2004 Sport?

I am having the same problems with my 60k miles Nissan as JohnC (see Qu. March 2010) Engine "hunts" on tickover with revs varying between 900 and 1100rpm.
Recently serviced with all filters changed but problem persists. Did John solve the problem?
