we think the heating element or the thermostat is not working but is this easy to fix and how much would it cost?

is it a fairly new dryer ? have you been opening the door while it is tumbling rather than turning it off properly? if so most newish models have a saftey feature its to stop kids burning them selves if they open the door take the back cover off and check for a reset button
