why is this not a car recall?? answer ££££? Surely the part is 'not fit for purpose' therefore a trading standards issue?

This is SUCH a huge problem and only pressure, exposure or maybe some hideous accidents will publicise it for VW to act. Mines an 05 VW Golf 1.9 TDi 69,000 miles. looking at £1,500 bill GREAT! Next stop Watchdog but needs more of us to contact them before they'll look into it

Bought a touran fsi and had this and other problems which has made me disappointed with the brand as wrongly believed was getting a top brand,ok is 5* if have an accident but after 25Y of painless driving this is the payback with hi tech cars. So the ESP is on for 2years ,but drive carefully and see that many experts switch the esp traction control off to avoid driving like a learner,so am going to keep my £1.5k and enjoy the car with its faults as drives very well,is it me ??
