Bonnet release not working on Fiat Punto 2001?

Is there an easier way of sorting this without having to get under the car? Cable is not broken but bonnet will not pop up. I am female so not very good this sort of thing! thanks

jack up the front near side of the car. Secure on axle stand. Lay on your back and reach up towards top of radiator. You should be able to feel the cable (torch will help you to see if light is bad). Grip the cable and push towards the bonnet catch. This should release the catch. Renew broken cable. £20 -£30 ebay.

i had the same problem with mine cable was seized had to replace it at a cost of of £5.
to release it i had to use a bit force by unbolting the locking mechanisn from the exterior side at the front of the bonnet using a socket set. a good local garage will know what to do. it will only take 1 hour to do start to finish.
, dont be conned or fobbed off. good luck.

Have someone hold the catch in the open position and push down on the bonnet where the catch is,if you can get your fingers under it try to pull it up then push down again, keep doing this and it may pop up.I've done it many times, the grease on the catch dries out and the spring that pulls the catch open doesn't have the power to open the lever, pushing and pulling on it is normally enough. If you get it open spray the whole lot with plenty of WD40 or penetrating fluid and move what bits you can to help it.Good luck.
