Mondeo 1800 turbo diesel - clutch drag?

I'm experiencing clutch drag on my 1994 1800TD Mondeo. Do I need a new clutch or is there something I can check/adjust first?

best way to find out if clutch slipping is get it into 3rd gear at 2,000 rpm and floor it if revs increase without speed increasing as well you will need a clutch soon if not I think this model is cable operated clutch in which case a new clutch cable might be in order about £18
