Yes you can purchase a new lead but you must make sure that the lead you purchase is the correct rating for your steam iron. Now most large diy stores stock replacement cable you will also find that on each cable there will be information as to what that cable is used for. Usually Irons the cable is wrapped in a fire retardant or heat resistant fabric. If in doubt ask someone at the store to point this out to you. But make sure the cable you replace is the fabric covered cable.
