How can i fix my vauxhall corsa's intimitant elecrical fault?

My 51 plate corsa 1.2 16v Sxi, has an itimitant electrical fault. When driving the speedo and the fuel gauge go to zero and the lights eg, the indicators dont work even though they actually work when looking outside the car. If i turn the engine off at this point it will not start from 5mins to an hour. However if i slam the bonnet hard the problem stops and the car returns to normal until it decides to do it again.
Can anyone please help me??

i think i know what the problem is. My car had the same fault, it all started happening (as your car is) after i had new clocks fitted to the car, the mechanic didnt plug the instrument cluster connecter back in properly, i had it sorted within 30mins...takes ages to strip the panels away to get to the clocks.

speak to the dealers! they get away with too much your car can NOT be the only one that does it or the only one that has done it! get some advice on it go see who ever it takes but see them first the dealers & have in mind you not beinig fobbed off & that you will write to the papers about this! they will know what it is & where to fix the prob. but wont say cos of the £ signs in they eyes! but i know me electrics & the hardist part about that is finding the fault once you find it then it could be as easy as tighting up a loose earth bolt after that but you spent hours finding it! get what i mean? it wud be very hard to find but even harder to find tho a computer! sorry can not be anymore help but dont give up on dealers they will give up in the end when you going in everyday & new customers seeing you are not happy lol the best way to get what you want is to complain when it is busy hehe please let me know how you get on! thanks
