My 1st and 2nd gear actuallu goes into 3rd and 4th?

Can someone please help me...I hav just bought a 10 year old 206 and when putting it in to 1st or 2nd it actually goes into 3rd and 4th and it stalls (obviously) and I have to turn whole car off and start again....do I need a whole new gearbox?? If so it is getting scrapped!!!! Please help me!!!

by the sounds of that , the one of the gear linkage bars have fallen off , look on the back of the gearbox and you should see 3 long thing bars with little cups that push on to the gearbox make sure they are all conected

Don't panic.
206 gear linkages are cheap plastic rubbish, they always fail.
It may just need adjusted, but will probably need replaced.
Search ebay for 206 gear linkages to get an idea on price.
Shop around independent garages for best price to supply and fit.

did you take it for a test drive before handing over your cash? if you had then you would have spotted fault. you could get it looked at but that might cost more than the cars worth.
