Whats wrong with my 206??

Ive recently brought a peugeot 206 (03 reg) and the other day i noticed that when i flicked my indicator left it started ticking,then stopped while the stick stayed down and then they came back on again after a couple of seconds. After this i have noticed it to do it numourous times (left and right) and i find it very tempermental. I find it dangerous as well. Any help will be appreciated!

You need a new indicator switch, also known as COM2000. They are a bit expensive but it is a common fault and a new one should cure it.
