My Bissell bagless vacuum's brush spins until it hits the carpet then stops?

My vacuum's brush works on a floor but won't spin when it hits the carpets. The suction seems to be working all right and if I lift the vacuum up from the carpet a little bit, it will start spinning. How do I get it to work? It is a Bissell bagless cleanview turbobrush, model # 3593-M. The belt seems fine....... Thanks, Margie

Its probabley your belt. I have same model and mine wasn't spinning on the carpet either. I took off the belt and when comparing to the new replaceent it had stretched about 1 full inch, (heat most likely the culprit over time)
