do i need a new gearbox?

Speedo not working on my rover 25 garage suggest possible new gear box as it crunshes when changing into 2nd gear

p.s you can either put up with the crunching gears until it finally packs in or try sourcing a g/box from a good scrappy and save some cash

syncro hub possibly on the way out in g.box,not sure on your model if there is a speedo sensor on g/box but some speedos nowadays work off the abs sensor at the wheels
