Renault Megane stalling?

I have a renault megane 04 reg. when i first start it in the morning it chugs and splutters and tries to stall. the only way to stop it stalling is if i keep pumping the throttle for about 20 seconds. ive replaced the thermostat sensor and spark plugs and that made no difference. This will then happen again everytime the car has been turned off for about 3hrs and i try and start it again. Whats the problem and how do i fix it?

Throttle cable could be stretched, open the bonnet and pull the throttle cable upwards and towards the windscreen you might notice the cable to become longer. If this happens when you are driving and you come off the accelerator quickly the cable will become extended on either side (pedal side, or throttle side on top of the engine). In the morning press your accelerator pedal half way and hold it there while starting, if this works okay, you will now know the problem your throttle cable is stretched and you may have to get a new one fitted.
