Daf cf 85?

We have a DAF CF 85 430 HP 9/02 model. The ABS,engine, air light and big stop light are always on.
Have had kenworth plug into computer and no faults found.
For the stop light to come it is caused by
1.coolant temp too high ( runs cool )
2. oil pressure too low, oil light goes out when truck is started but oil light does not come on when wire is disconnected from oil pressure switch when running
3 voltage overcharge, alternator is charging 29.8 volts
4. cab not locked, cab light goes out when cab is down
5 Air pressure too low, air builds up to 10.5 bar and leaks back down to 8 bar, receiver dryer leaks abit when dropping back to 8, we replaced the filter and no change as of yet,wat pressure do these run at and how is pressure adjusted, 10.5 bar seems too high. Any ideas

Can I replace a paccar 460 engine with a 430. If yes what else will be affected or rather should be replaced

Slow gear change ?
we have a daf cf 85 and gear changes are very slow we pull around 30t and when up hilling the gear selected is too high. it would seem that when changing into even number gears it is fine but into odd numbered gears its slow. does this make sense to any one. we operate in zambia so no daf agency.

Daf Cf 85 Paccar 410,
Hi, I have a cf 85 with a paccar 410 engine, after it has run for about 15 mins the low oil pressure light comes on, I have changed the oil and filter, I used the fully synthetic 10-40 oil as advised.

Many Thanks,
Roy

icky... sounds like your exhaust brake switch is activated, from the switch on the floor behind the matting is a plug that sometimes shorts across when it gets wet and activates the exhaust brake, this also sends a signal to the engine to shut down power.follow the wires from the switch behind the matting and a white plug disconnect it there and try it.Good luck

Hi,how can i program gears in daf with astronic gearbox

Clement, June 2012
the engine wiring looms are very prone to voltage shorting across from wire to wire when the looms age and or get wet,we have 40 dafs and always run around after them.the abs coild be a asr fault, although ridgids dont have asr they still have the wiring fitted which is prone to puting the abs on....as for the air system, most of ours build up to around 11 bar then leak until 8 bar,we tend to just ignor them but the apu valves are prone to failure but normaly not letting the parkbrake release

could be a faulty instrument cluster with all those mutiple faults?
or defo in wiring loom in engine harness

simon, February 2011
common problem with this model comes from where the loom changes from vertical to horizontel in the n/s/f wheel arch. The first thing it comes into contact with is a 2"x1" channel on it's side with the open end faceing you, this channel is only loosely secured on one end and is designed to move like a " swinging arm " helping to adjust movement between the chassis and the cab. The securing bolt may seze stopping the arm moving, making a very tight angle which impacts on the leading edge of the channel causing short curcuits which the computer defends by turning off the engine, you may prove this point by starting the engine with the cab up. To cure, improve insulation then using a large adjustable spanner on the leading edge of the channel bending up to form more of a trumpet end.

do you mean the 4 way protection valve bolted on to the air proceesing unit ,with the sensor on top of it that controls the air gauges ?? ..just wondering as if so in the uk it's bolted under the steering box ie right hand side ..as on the left handside there is the front brake modulator ,which i can't see being at fault ,as with an electrical fault you will have a fault code ,mechanically it will leak air ,or it has been known for it not to fully exhaust and cause slight binding of the front brakes

phil, November 2010
I think the 4 way valve is broke it has a sensor fittet
that could be foulty fittet on the left mudd guard

meant to say the air system should be regulated to 10 bar ...on the side where the compressor pipe enters the air drier ,looks toward the front of it and you will see a small allen screw...that is the adjuster ...though generally the airdrier itself will need replacing ...occassionally when it starts over pressuring the system, the gauges return to zero and you will then have dragging brakes

hi

if you have an engine ,abs light etc on ..you should have either an active error or an inactive error stored in the upec .abs ,i guess with daf and kenworth both being paccar products the kenworth laptop talks to the daf systems ...unfortunately the wiring on dafs isn't their best feature..with out fault codes it is hard to say ,if the alternator warning came on ,i would have changed the brush box in the alternator ...other than that ,with the age of the vehicle ,check the wiring where it flexis when the cab is tilted ,and where it sits on brackets ...at a guess i'd say the engine loom is at fault ...sorry i can't be more accurate ,if you can get fault codes i can be of more help ,having worked on them for 14 years
