how do i adjust the hand brake on a 2006 facelift mazda 6?

Is the hand brake adjusted from within the car , do I need to remove the arm rest between the two front seats tried removing ashtray at rear of the rest but no access to handbrake

I think that the handbrake is self adjusting. When it doesn't adjust then the calipers are seized.
