renault combo starter motor?

i fitted new starter motor to my van but when i turn the ignition key nothing happens starter will not even click battery charged ignition lights on as normal is there a seperate fuse for starter or am i missing something

thanks bret, i tried th wire as you sugested but still nothing so i took the new strter off and tried it off the van and still nothing so i decided to service the old one tried it and hey bingo its works fine up to now ,the new one i bought off ebay must of been a dud, thanks tony

if you mean renault kangoo-then i think there is a main fuse/fusible link in main lead to starter, you need to check that battery voltage is present at starter main lead terminal,if not live then suspect this is your problem,

does the van have an immobiliser?

all contacts on starter? main live and secondry live?
good earth to engine?

connect a wire to the small secondary live on the motor solenoid and touch it to the live on your battery and it should turn over.
