how can i fix my ford escort 1.8si?

Hi i have a 98 ford escort 1.8si and have a blueish smoke blowing out on start up until warm, also a little bit hessitant on acceleration, i have changed oil, oilfilter, fuelfilter and spark plugs and there is no change,can anybody help please
