How can I fix my Zanussi washer dryer model ZWD1251W?

My Zanussi washer dryer would not spin at the end of a wash cycle. Usually this points to new brushes being required for the motor. The motor is situated at the bottom of the machine and so having disconnected the hoses I moved the machine on to it's side to gain access to the motor. After removing and examining the brushes I thought that they were still in good condition and after having read part of the manual on-line I decided to connect them back up again and give it another try. However after connecting up the cold water supply etc and then switching on the power I selected the wash settings etc and pressed the start button. This time nothing happened. All the normal programme indicator lights were on and no fault codes were displayed. The light on the start button was flashing.
Anyone any ideas please ?

Thanks again ck. Took brushes back off again and checked them. Have at least 25mm length. Connections ok. Fitted brushes again and tried. Was still the same. Code E51 displayed again. Decided to leave machine overnight and try again in the morning. Switched on and everything seems to be ok now. Have did two wash loads and they have both been completed successfully. Thanks again ck for your time and advice.

E51 is a motor issue
the carbon bit on the brush, how long was it when you removed them?
you need 10mm of carbon or more to make them work correctly.new ones are 40mm long
Did you connect the wires back to the brushes
Could be a faulty motor also but you need test gear to prove this

turn off machine with on/off switch
press and hold the start button and the skip button together
Now turn machine on with the on/off switch still keeping above buttons pressed
when lights start to chase let go of all the buttons and watch the lights chase through
Now press the cotton/wash program selector button (1st from left)
it should start to fill
press cotton/wash button again and each time it will make a part operate on the machine.on the 9th press the fault code should come up in the display
E20,E50,E-- etc etc
post this code
My worry is you have laid the machine on its side with the soap draw at the top!.If you do this water can come out and go in to the electronics/display pcb.you should lay them on there back to stop this happening.post code and we will see if it is terminal
