How can I tune my McCulloch MH542 Petrol Hedgetrimmer?

I live in Tanzania. I have used my McCulloch MH542 Petrol Hedgetrimmer for quite a while with no major problems. It is now refusing to start - a progressive affair with symptoms that sounded like it was getting choked (difficult to start, refusal to idle, low power, not reaching full revs etc.) There are no dealers in TZ and the owners guide refers any tuning activities to a dealer because of a highly sensitive low emmission carburettor. I have cleaned the air filter, ensured that the petrol feed, return and breather is not blocked and the plug/spark is fine. Any suggestions as to how to tune this beast to get it running again? Thanks

i agree with richard. throw it in the bin and buy a stihl or kawasaki

follow the throttle cable to the throttle you should see three screws one going in to the throttle if you tighten this up it will give you a few more revs but if you want more you will need a friend to help you first you need a screwdriver or a allen key start the engine and give it full revs locate the screw you just tighten look slightly bellow you should see two more screws tighten them while you are giving it full revs you should notice that if you tighten them it will give you more revs and if you losen the screws the revs should be less but don't give it too many revs because it will get to hot and catch fire give it anough revs so you are satified if this dosnt work try taking the air filter out and starting it if it runs better than before the hedgetrimmer was being choked or the air and fule mixture is wrong and you should drain the petrol out and take it of by taking the pullcord of the petrol can should fall off clean it out with air compressor clean it all out

I have the same problem, I think its a fault with this item.
Give up and buy a new one, but not a McCullock.
