I can't believe that this simple trick worked so well.

Thank you, and I mean thank you from the bottom of my wallet!

had a similar problem - radio stopped working one day - no obvious reason - car would not start 2 days later.AA called out and confirmed that the battery was drained but didn't know why.i read this advice today 3/12/2016 - disconnected the positive side of the battery- left it for 2 minutes - reconnected - everything fine - entered radio code and away we go .thanks for the advice- probably saved me both time and money.

Yes it has stopped working

I disconnected my battery and it all worked again, it never asked for a battery code and now it sort of goes off very briefly and then comes back on again several times during a short or long journey, Renault are saying they have never heard of this which i think is a little strange any ideas?

Just connected the standard radio back into my renault megane and it has power ok but doesn't come up on the display asking for the code and I can't find out how to get it to

Can't believe that taking the battery off for a while made my radio work again!! Hubby said you can find your radio code in one of the small handbooks that comes with your car otherwise dealers will charge you for this service. It had been snowing and one morning my radio was completely dead, but finding this information about the detaching the battery was great. My hubby wasn't going to try it but glad he did!!!

hi mine has stopped too would it be the fuse in the radio ive try the fuse box and its fine

Hi folks, Just thought I'd tell you that I took my megane to the renault dealership and they changed my radio free of charge as its a recognised fault... Problem now solved!

Maddy, December 2010
Hi the same happened to me. Im going to try to fix mine tomorrow. I was wondering though, where do you get the code?

olivia, December 2010
Thanks for the advice. I disconnected the battery, reconnected, inputted the code and it worked. Second time the radio has broke in the same car. Window has broke at the same time, seems Renault's electrics arent too reliable in the freezing cold temperatures.

Mike, December 2010
mine had stopped working as well wonder if renault should be accountable for all the faults as it seems to be common

sara, December 2010
thanks thats worked for me to i got stuck in the snow and thats when it went off.

marie, December 2010
Hi, thanks for your information. Hopefully this will work for me too. My radio was working on Wednesday, and then nothing yesterday or today, plus the clock light is not going off! Thanks again

Maisie, December 2010
you just need to disconnect one lead from the battery..its under the bonnet and easy to get at..you will need a spanner of the right size for the nut..mine was a 10mm..just unscrew the nut take the lug off for a few seconds and refit it..tighten the nut back up and job done.. its preferable if you undo the positve + side of the battery ..not the negative - but in my case it was too difficult to get at

alanR, December 2010
Is it easy to disconnect the radio?? I have the same problem exactly, but am a bit of a technophobe and batteries scare me!

Maddy, December 2010
Haha he is a genius but I try not to tell him too often!! I am pleased to say it is still working despite the cold weather last night. So glad it worked for you too!

Stacy, December 2010
I'm going to try it when I get home later too - fingers crossed - thank you for letting us know!

Chez, December 2010
Stacy..your husband is a genius..just tried that solution..disconnected the battery..only very briefly ..reconnected and it worked..as you say it resets it all and you have to re-enter the code but IT WORKS...I can listen to the archers again..sad or what!!

AlanR, December 2010
Quick update - my husband came home and said the clock light panel wasn't going off and would drain the battery so he needed to try and fix it. He disconnected the battery for 10 mins (apparently this resets it). You need the radio code when you turn it back on but all seems to be working at the moment! I let you know if there is any change tomorrow....

Stacy, November 2010
it must be something to do with the weather as mine has stopped working too! is there anyone out there that can help??

Stacy, November 2010
No totally lost.. strangly mine stopped after I got stuck in the snow..everything else working though but like you no display apart from the time and temp..!!

alanR, November 2010
Mine has stopped working too - no display either (apart from the time and temperature display) - it was fine yesterday but since the snowy temperature this morning dropped to -6ºC it won't switch on!!

Chez, November 2010
