the brake fluid warning light is on,the fluid resevoir is full the brakes have to be depressed hard to act,the car has been looked after well,but not used much in the past year,i recentley bought it but the warning light was not on then,i have disconnected and re-connected the battery in case of an electrical glitch.

Could be the master cylinder vacuum or a split pipe from the manifold to the master cylinder, check the pipe first.

could be a seized cylinder in brakes,or the hand brake could be siezed,you will need get it checked by garage,if ever a car is not used for a long time,put it in gear,and if on your drive ,or in garage,leave the hand brake off,(as long as your drive not on a slope )
