otpoint first edition 1100 washer dryer?

machine tripped circuit breakers on main electrical consumer panel.
but fuse in plug is ok.
no indicator light on machine front panel when power restored.
mains voltage entering machine 240v ac available on input side of large capacitor at rear of machine. 240v ac is available at output side of capacutor and is still present at input side of double pole push switch. switch is making contact on both pos and neg output from switch giving a 240v reading. please what is the next test point or most likely failed component to try as there is no obvious water entry onto electrics which could havecaused machine to fail, there is minor corrosion on one terminal on one of the small push switches on front panel-used to select economy or half load option. i have by passed these switches but machine is still dead.

if a/c is present as mentioned it sounds as though you you have an open curcuit neutral side and though its normally a short that trips mcbs an open could if you have rcd on your fuse board check ror a resistance in ohms by probing the input to the plug though the capacitor may block the dc from your meter which depends on the type of capacitor you were refering to in which case you would not get a reading in ohms do not atempt to mearsure resistance when voltage is present
