How do i change rear wheel bearings on a renault megane scenic?

How do i replace a rear wheel bearing on a megane scenic?
Ronnie, August 2006
Do you have to change the disc when you change the bearings on a 2004 renult scenic

ive just replaced the rear discs on my megane, unless you can gain access to a press etc it is far cheeper and easyer to replace the lot,i got the discs for £105.00 the pair inc bearings ready assembled.

dont attempt urself unless u are really good,by the time garage fits just bearings, labour goes up as it can be nightmare to change,so equally better to buy complete hub and bearing. garage price both rear hubs and bearings £220.00 fitted formula 1 at long eaton notts, this is for a 54 reg megane coupe but use same bearings as the scenic

if i was you i would just buy the disc with bearing as renaults have to have the bearings pressed out (if they can be) so it will cost you more in the long run for example i payed £104 for a disc and bearing to be changed at nationwide and the wanted £96 for just the bearing because of labour hope this helps

wheel bearing is part of wheel hub /disc on scenics you may find disc coming to its limit anyway so as you have to change bearing with hub/disc anyway and pads.

I would have thought that you would be able to change a rear wheel bearing as you are able to buy them from German swedish french without the hub....i have done several on other cars before and they are quite easy...if it is in the hub...remove the hub...then the seal at the rear of the bearing ...the bearing themselves normally then jus come out...you then need to tap out the casings ..one comes out from the rear and the other from the front...use a small punch and they drop out...the tricky thing is just getting the new ones back in...place them ove the hub and use a piece of wood to get them started then use the old casing to tap in a little further then a punch to ensure they are seated fully on the lip in the hub..trepeat for the other side....pop in the bearings and grease and put in the seal at the rear....hope it helps....

As far as I know you have to change the whole drum on a scenic. ( Cant change the bearing by itself )
