Ford Focus - key fob not working properly??

Just bought 2000 plate Focus and discovered when using key fob it will not lock the doors, to do so i have to use the key in the passenger door as it does not lock them from the drivers door, but the fob will unlock them when pressed, have tried the process mentioned earlier (turning key 4 times) but this has not worked, can anyone help?, many thanks.

you can buy fob from ebay for 15$ just make sure its an oem fob that u currently use
1)
Open the driver's door of the Ford, press "Unlock" on the armrest panel and place your key in the ignition.
2)
Turn your key eight times from "Off" to the "On/Run" position (the position just before "Start"). Do this within 10 seconds. You should end at "On."( the door knob will automatically toggle to lock unlock if you did it successfully)
3)
Press any button on the key fob. You have 20 seconds, so don't dawdle.
4)
Press any button on the second key fob you wish to program, if any. Again you have 20 seconds to do this. You must reprogram all the key fobs for this vehicle at this time; otherwise they will no longer work.
Step
5)Turn the key in the ignition to "Off". Test your key fobs for correct operation.

Had the same problem, the car would not unlock on the button. I took the fob apart carefully and found the 'open' micro switch had become detached from the small circuit board so i re-soldered it re-assembled and all was well.
