How can I stop a broken ice maker from making ice?

The bar is missing, and the valve to the water is locked in the on position. Ergo, it make ice continuously. It's a 1998 Whirlpool model. Any suggestions?

The fridge came with the house I bough and only recently began making ice. Now, it won't stop.

the hole in the ice maker where the arm should go, should be white plastic in the crevice of the black housing of the ice maker.

the flat slot in it, where the arm should be, get a small flat blade screwdriver and rotate it just enough to hear it click. as if you were lifting the arm up.
this will stop the ice maker from asking for water.
