2001 dt125r Light fault?

My yamaha Dt 125r I am not sure if its a fault or just a blowed bulb because last week the bulb blowed so I replaced it Yesterday I was driving home and it went very dim so I had to drive home with full beams on there is 2 bulbs in the headlight 1 is sidelights the other main beam and low beam which isnt working in 1 bulb Im gonna have a battery test to make sure there is not an overload of volts runnin round the 12 volt battery

Any suggestions to look out for fixing it?
Please reply ASAP
Thanks Mike

there are a few reasons a bulb will blow too high a voltage i.e more than 15 volts
a loose haedlight will make the soft element in the bulb that is glowing to basically break off a gas leak in the bulb will cause it to blow and usually go a milky colour iside the bulb.your headlight bulb has two filamnets as you say one for low beam and one for high beam does it blow on either filament?or just the low one.also i take it the rear lkight is working ok and that you do have a 12 volt bulb in the headlight and not a 6 volt one?

Hi, if you have a quartz-halogen main bulb & if the voltage is not maintained then this will cause the bulb to fail.
