1997 Ford Fiesta heater control valve?

How is the valve supposed to work - does it incorporate inlet & bypass vales?
How can I remove/repair it? - or can I replace it with copper pipes & valves from a plumbers shop?

If you would like a copy of the Ford heater fault finding guide contact me on nige110162(at)hotmail.co.uk and NO you can't replace it with plumbing valves!!! the valve is part of the electronics of the heater control panel
