I have a Clio 1.1 on a 04 plate ?

The Temperture Gauge and warning signes came on the dash board when driving home when i stopped the car the fan stayed on for 5min

I would think that the termostat has given up the engine is over heating and the fan in compinsating for this. The cold weather could the termo to break.
Had this issue with a focus last year
