Repair cable on dyson dc04?

Can you tell me how to replace the cable on a dyson dc04?
the cable has a break in it very near to the switch housing at the point where it enters the rubber guide housing, thanks.

To get access to the cable connections inside the switch housing you first need to extract the on/off button - there is a slot down the side of the button housing which is intended for a special-to-type tool which releases the barb on the button when it is pushed down the slot - it's not easy to get out!

If and when you get the button out you will then need a torx screwdriver to remove the screw which holds the switch assembly in place.

When you have got this far, the rest is a breeze!
