be careful but with the lid off and with you hand flat on the drum it should start the motor up without issue.if you can stop the drum rotating by holding it then the capacitor on the motor is faulty of the motor is dead.make sure the motor rotates freely by removing the belt and also check the drum rotates freely with the belt removed.any excessive resistance will give you an indication as to a drum fault or a motor fault.I have found socks trapped in the blower fan cause this type of fault but by spinning the motor should indicate this issue
