daf 45 alternator?

hi sorry in new here, i have an old daf 45 truck 96, recently the charging light came on and have been on since. only yesterday i went and bought a new alternator 24v from a daf dealer as suggested by pple i asked. fitted the unit and strted the engine, it turned over but the light stayed on it occassionally blinks as if its about to go out. ive checked the connections again and again but to no avail. one thing ive notice is at the bac of the unit there is push pin plug with 3 pins in it. my push plug has two wires connections to the pins1 and 3. im just wondering if this cld be the cause for it not charge. pleae help

thanks

Is the small wire attached to the top of the alternator. I think this is the warning light. My warning light came on yesterday on a 1996 Daf 45 . All it needed was a new set of brushes for the regulator but the part is now obsolete. My mate altered a set and soldered them in place and now charging well. Saved me £140 +vat :-)

hi ..

check fuse E035 ,in LH side of dash ,then pop grill ,take off cover in centre ,and repair corroded wires ...the main pos and neg and prone to corroding

even with engine running stick multi meter on alt or batts and see if it is charging ,don't forget to increase revs ...is probably the signal to switch the light off isn't getting through

is there a few wires that are connected to alternator body, if so make sure none are broken or making bad connection. [think they are white in colour]
