Hey guys,

I have recently bought a CG 125 06, I have ridden it now for a few weeks and now for no apparent reason sometimes when im trying to change up a gear 2 > 3 it refuses to do so. It feels like when you're trying to change into 6th when you dont have 6th. Like there isnt a gear there. Sometimes I have to give it more throttle before I can change up. It feels like the gear isn't in the right position to be selected. (this isn't just related to 2nd but all the other guys except 1st)

What do you guys think?

Well when im in these gears I can go full speed, i haven't noticed any performance drop. I adjusted the clutch but it didnt help any all.

I had to ride naerly 2 miles earlier in 3rd before it would allow me to change gaer :( poor bike was screaming its nuts off.

I think it might be best taking it to a honda dealer and face the price :(

if its slipping it will NOT transfer the engines power to the rear wheel like there is no gears and if its dragging it will be like changing gear without using the clutch at all.

I have noticed today that is happens going from 3 > 4, 4 > 5. The only way to change into these gears is to go at nearly full RPM in that change before the lever recognizes theres a gear. I am lifting up on the lever but it just feels empty :(

I will see if blipping the throttle helps. The lever is definitely moving the spinal. i will try and adjust the clutch tomorrow on the way into work. If it was slipping/dragging.. Wouldn't this really effect performance?

Hi, apart from selector fork damage(bike falling over on gear lever side)in which case remedial work will have to be done as per Adam's advice, but before you have to spend cash the only other fault which could cause poor gear changing is a poorly adjusted clutch and/or warped clutch plates, could be the cable is slacking off therefore the clutch is now starting to 'drag', same symptom for warped plates. Take out all but a small amount of free-play by adjusting the knurled adjuster at the handlebar lever (10-15mm free play at the lever's end) Maybe give the throttle a 'blip' when changing gear if you say it helps. Double check that the gear lever is tight on the shaft. All the best.

The lever doesn't hit any part of the casing. The oil level is fine.. A little high. I just really hope this isn't a gearbox issue, I dont really have the time to replace this as this CG is my work horse.

Hi,when you change up the gears, does the lever hit any part of the engine casing? you may have replaced the gear lever too far onto the splined gearshaft & is tight against the engine casing, loosen off the nut/bolt & pull the lever outwards by a few millimetres, re-tighten the nut/bolt & see if its made a difference. Also check oil level & clutch cable for correct adjustment. All the best.

Well I dont know if this is related but this only started to happen after my gear lever came off the other day. I put it back on and tightened the nut.

However sometimes it doesn't select the gear, sometimes it does.

By what you're saying there is no easy fix for this.

well its either the pawl on the gear lever shaft not engaging the selector drum or possible the drive dogs being worn on the end of the actual gears,there is also a return spring on the gear lever iif this breaks it will not re set itself into the right position to get the pawl into the next notch in the selector drum.i would start by taking the clutch cover off and taking the clutch off so you can see the end of the lever shaft and the return spring.....but there is a thing called a centrifuge that has to be taken off to get the clutch off as its in the way and this needs a special tool as its a round nut with 4 equally offset holes in it.i have one as i do them all the time i have had loads of cg engines to bits.good luck wiith it.
