I think I made a dreadful mistake?

I have a Briggs & Stratton 4hp mower. I failed to put oil in it and it started to smoke and stall. I put some 30 w oil into it and now it REALLY smokes yikes! What have I done and is there any fix out there? I think I may have put the wrong oil in? Perhaps too much? It runs and smokes so I must not have killed it completely yet...

I appreciated both answers to my question. I would love to try to actually mend this if at all possible.. I have prayed and I will try draining some of the oil...Where would I find the rings to replace and how would I know if the walls are damaged?

Well the only thing you can hope for is that you over filled it
If you run it without oil you have proably siezed up the rings
As long as its not knocking you`ll be ok and will need to replace the rings if the cylinder walls aren`t damaged

Despite the fact that I am Agnostic I strongly suggest praying.
