if your cooling system has frozen do NOT run it to thaw it out,try and get it under cover to defrost gradually,have seen water pump impellers sheared off when trying to run a motor when frozen,not to say that is your fault but if it ran ok before the cold weather set in good chance the cold is part of your problem
