off, otherwise you'll be reducing pressure as the heating is raising it.

i did this for about five mins but pressure stayed the same!! should i do it with heating on or off?

Draw water through a radiator bleed, catch the water in a bowl or similar until the pressure reduces to correct level, then replace the bleed screw.
