how do i fix the polarity?

hi
can someone please help... i was tightening a bolt on the positive terminal on my battery when i hit a bit of metal with the spanner and now have no power going to my glow plugs and have power going to my fuel cut-off switch. and i can't get my van to start.
any ideas are welcome
