battery missing fault?

can anyone tell me how to get rid of a missing battery notice? i have a scantronic 816 control panel with a 913 keypad. i have checked the battery and its reading 12.5v with mains off and 13.5v with mains on. but if i switch the mains off there is no battery back up power? the battery wiring to the control circuit board seams ok.

Nah Nick, we are used to people not having a clue asking us and then deriding the answer.
What have we here between us?
Probably 100 years worth of combined experience, what should we know:P

You poor guys, you must be pulling your hair out at Bill, let him call an engineer out from his area, non-contracted customers gonna be £120 ish. and let him tell you exactly what has been mentioned below.
We dont care about lighting up your 45w bulb, Ignore the help Bill and wait for the lovely invoice your gonna get from the alarm company,

Just do what I do and help the more obscure, standard battery stuff as you say they should search.
Afterall they found here in the first place!

I'm not in the slightest bothered my the attitude.

Everyone who asks a question seems to think that they are the first with their problem, they're NOT.

If you had to answer the SAME questions over & over & over again because people are too lazy to use the SEARCH facility at the top of the page, you would have attitude also.

Perhaps I'll go away & not answer any questions here, after all I only have 40yrs or so experience in the alarm trade, so who am I to know anything?

acorn, dont think we will get a new year card from bill,
why do people ask our advice then question it,
we give them the benifit of our experience, without being there,it at least gives them a clue,it very true what they say,a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, anyway, have a good new year

How many time do we have to say the same thing.

Just because the battery shows 13.8v or 12.9v it DOES NOT mean that it has the capacity to hold a charge.

In this case PROVED by turning the mains goes off.

By the way, does your outside sounder make a noise with the mains off or with the mains & battery dissed?

If it does not make a noise in either case that's faulty also.

acorn, December 2010
and one more thing, its not if it can light a 45 watt bulb, but how long it can,but you got a reading of 12.5 volts,so that ok then,so no worries:-)

gts, December 2010
thanks for your advice gts

thanks for your attitude acorn must be nice to know your always right!!

p.s. dont bother to reply already logged off

bill, December 2010
just call an alarm company out,who will check your battery properly, and charge you a nice fee, then, you will be happy :-)

gts, December 2010
tell you what bill, just forget all i said,i,ve only been in the trade 37 years, what the hell do i know, acorn, why do we bother?

gts, December 2010
so if the battery reads 12.5v and will light a 45w car headlight bulb do you still recomend changing it?

bill, December 2010
gts,

what's the matter with you?

Don't you know that it's a rechargeable battery, they never need replacing, (do they?) get with it.

:-)

acorn, December 2010
its cheaper than buying the p a c tester :-)

gts, December 2010
you cant tell if the battery is ok by testing with a test meter,we use a battery tester that puts a dummy load on the battery, but its expensive to buy, replace the battery
